VISAFF FOUNDERS


VISAFF is Vancouver's premier International South Asian Film Festival founded by Agam Darshi and Patricia Isaac. It's purpose and vision is to "bridge the gap" between South Asian talent and mainstream audiences. VISAFF is instrumental in breaking the South Asian stereotype, and expanding North American views on the artists within the culture beyond Bollywood. This festival is commited to serving as a launching pad for integration through celebration and education.

FOUNDERS:

Agam Darshi actor/filmmaker

AgamAgam Darshi is a sought after Canadian actress based in Vancouver. She is currently working as a series lead in the sci-fi show: Sanctuary (Syfy/Space) where she plays the tough as nails Kate Freelander. Agam was also a series lead in season 1 of Dan for Mayor (CTV) for which she earned a Canadian Comedy Award nomination for best ensemble. She played Aparna in the mega blockbuster hit 2012, and Saphira the Canadian indie Excited for which is nominated for a LEO award for best supporting actress. Other works include a recurring role The L Word (Showtime), a lead in Haunting on Sorority Row alongside Gossip Girls Leighton Meester, and a lead in Normal alongside Carrie-Anne Moss (Matrix), as well as roles in Snakes on a Plane and Final Destination 2.

Agam Darshi received formal theatre training from the University of Calgary and then went on to complete an intensive Studio 58 Film Arts program at Langara College, with focus in screenwriting, and has been writing and producing films ever since.

She was featured in Anokhi Magazine's 'Sexy & Successful List' for 2008, and was chosen as one of TV WEEK's Top 10 Most Beautiful People in BC in 2010.

Patricia Isaac: actor/writer

PatriciaVANCOUVER CANADA: Patricia Isaac grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and majored in Economics and Political Science at the University of Alberta, but studied Theatre at the highly acclaimed Citadel Theatre at night. Although she was well on her way to success in business, becoming the youngest Account Executive across the country for a major IT corporation, while still in University, Patricia decided to pursue her sole dream of acting. Since her move, the dynamic actress has been cast in numerous roles, such as Steven King's The Dead Zone, Lifetime's Blood Ties, Warner Brothers Smallville, has been featured twice by request in the popular NBC series Psych, multiple commercials, theatre productions and was recently cast as Judy in the feature film, Daydream Nation, alongside Josh Lucas, Kat Dennings and Andie MacDowell. In addition to her rapidly growing acting career, Isaac is extremely passionate about bettering the world around her. From being a Big Sister to creating the public group 'Project: Be the Change', which hosts a new community initiative every three months, Patricia is working to make positive differences with every step. Her vision is to continually grow as an accomplished actress-writer-entrepreneur and community changer.
